How Does Chip and Pin Work?

Years of research went into Chip and PIN technology, but you'll be glad to know that you can learn how to use it in a few minutes.

Paying with a Chip and PIN card

• Insert your Barclaycard in the secure Chip and PIN terminal at the till (in some stores, they'll even do this bit for you)
• Your total to pay will be displayed on the keypad screen
• Enter your PIN on the keypad, making sure that no one can see what you're typing
• Take the receipt as usual. At the end of the month, check it against your statement
