Overview

How ePDQ MPI helps your business

If you're looking for an online payment solution that offers you more control of online payments, our integrated ePDQ solution is ideal. With our experience and reliability, you can confidently host your own payment pages while taking full responsibility for collecting cardholder details.

Using MPI is more technically involved than ePDQ CPI, our simple end-to-end solution with payment pages that we host on your behalf. To meet security regulations when you use ePDQ MPI, you need to be aware that:

  • You're responsible for the security of cardholder details and must adhere to Card Scheme rules and regulations and be PCI DSS compliant.
  • Creating and paying for secure online pages is your responsibility.
  • Your business has to pay Card Scheme registration fees.
  • You should have the technical resources to manage and build upgrades if necessary – for instance, to accept new card types.

Integrated for a seamless customer experience

Building your own payment pages offers customers a payment journey that's completely branded from beginning to end. You can accept all major credit, debit and charge cards, in a range of international currencies, safely and securely. Offering this flexibility gives customers more choice and could lead to increased turnover.

The payment solution that keeps you in control

With MPI, you can choose settings that meet your business needs, such as:

  • Settlement options
For greater flexibility, you can choose when to take payments from your customer's card – for instance, when their order's ready for dispatch.
  • Recurring billing payment processing
This could save your customers, and your business, time and money.
  • Online management reporting
This allows you to quickly monitor transactions and other account details.
  • Individual security settings for staff
Control access levels for every member of staff, for greater protection.

Support you can count on

We do our utmost to simplify the process of integrating online payments for your business, by providing you with:

  • A dedicated helpline for technical assistance
  • Integration and user guides
  • Free upgrades
  • Regular newsletters to keep you informed of new products, security measures and any legal changes that could affect your business

Enhanced fraud control

EPDQ MPI is configured to offer online security to your business and customers at the highest level. For extra protection from fraud, you can apply additional rules to set the exact level of security your business needs.

You also have the option to sign up for internet authentication, at no extra cost. With it, cardholders who're paying with Visa, MasterCard or Maestro cards have to verify their identity with either a password or pin number.

Getting started

To integrate payment processing into your website, you'll need an online store and a secure payment solution that captures and processes cardholder details, such as our Merchant Payment Interface (MPI) or an approved Payment Service Provider (PSP).

Since ePDQ MPI is hosted by your system, you're responsible for complying with PCI DSS to protect your customers' sensitive data.

A step-by-step guide to applying for ePDQ MPI

  1. Our standard application takes 2-3 weeks to process. If your business has an expected turnover of less than £300,000, using our En@ble fast track application will get you trading online sooner.
  2. Once your application's been processed, you'll receive a welcome letter that explains what you need to do next and an email to confirm your log in details.
  3. You will need to call us to collect your password, for security reasons
  4. You are then ready to start integrating ePDQ MPI into your systems and start testing it.
  5. When you're ready to go live, simply complete an account activation form
  6. Lastly, we send you a confirmation email to let you know your online store's ready to start accepting cards

Once your application's been accepted, your settlement period will be 45 days after each transaction, although this may be reduced, depending on your type of business.

How it works

Using ePDQ MPI

Once you've integrated our payment solution, customers enjoy a seamless shopping experience when they visit your website. Here's a snapshot of the transaction process::

Illustration of how ePDQ MPI works

  1. A customer visits your online store, chooses your products or services and clicks to pay.
  2. They fill in their details on your secure payment pages.
  3. Your website checks if both you and the customer have signed up to Internet Authentication.
  4. If you have, then the authentication page of customer's card issuer is shown and your customer is asked for a secure password or PIN to verify their identity.
  5. Details of the transaction are passed to ePDQ to get authorisation from the card issuer.
  6. Finally, the transaction result is passed to your website.

Shortly after this, payment is credited to your account and you can access the transaction details online using our Store Administration Tool.

How it works

Integrated payments, competitively priced

Our charges are influenced by a number of factors, such as your turnover, average transaction amount and the ratio of credit to debit card payments that you've received.

In order to provide you with a service that's tailored to meet your needs, and offers your business value for money, our charges are split into three parts

  • New customers pay a joining fee, to cover the cost of setting up their account.
  • There's an online solutions charge that includes a flat monthly fee and a percentage of your online takings.
  • A separate cost for processing transactions. Credit cards are usually charged at a percentage of the transaction, while debit cards incur a flat fee.
