Your step-by-step guide to activating ePDQ MPI

  • Everything you need to start accepting live online payments, as well as mail, telephone and fax orders
  • Download guides for the integration and operation of ePDQ MPI
  • Advice to help you maintain high levels of security, manage your risk and protect your business

Now that you've successfully applied for ePDQ MPI, you're just three steps from accepting secure payments online, as well as by mail order and by phone.

Overview

1. Get your log in details

  • To get you started, our e-commerce support team will send you an email with your ePDQ store ID and web address.
  • When you receive our email, you need to call us on the number given to obtain your store password. To get this, you'll need to answer some security questions to confirm your identity.
  • We recommend that you read our password policy to help you understand how it affects the use of your ePDQ store, before you start using it.
  • Only after we confirm your ePDQ store ID, username and password should you start integrating MPI.

2. Download MPI software, integration and operating guides

Software

You can integrate ePDQ MPI using the 'XML Input Component'. Using your own XML wrapper (which you can create in whatever programming language you like) you can format, post and parse XML documents to and from the ePDQ engine to perform transactions, run reports and perform other functions.

Examples of the XML structure and a Java wrapper for the XML can be found in this zip file:

It is also necessary to install the VeriSign Intermediate CA certificate in order to connect securely to the ePDQ engine on the XML component.

If you are using the ePDQ MPI service and connecting to ePDQ using XML then you need to ensure you have a valid "Intermediate Certificate" installed on your server.

Please note that without a valid Intermediate Certificate installed you will be unable to process card payments through ePDQ.

What you need to do

  • Please check that you have a valid Intermediate Certificate installed
  • If you need to install an intermediate certificate, or renew your existing one, a certificate can be downloaded from here:

Verisign's instructions

Verisigns' site that explains why this is required

If you are using the ePDQ MPI service via the Java or C APIs no action is needed.

Integration guide

These documents contain integration details for the ePDQ MPI software.

Important: If you're a developer integrating ePDQ on behalf of a client, you must supply them with the Operating Guides. You also need to ensure that they are able to log into their administration tool, and know where to do so.

Operating Guides

Our guides will help you understand the main functions of ePDQ, as you need to know them before you process your first transaction.

Please note that ePDQ doesn't support the Experian Risk Service, Fraud Analyser, PayPal, Batch Authorisation, Reference Transactions or Clear Commerce Payer Authentication

3. Activate your Account

After integrating your ePDQ MPI, the final step is activating your account. To do this, you need to fill in our ePDQ Account Activation form. When you've submitted the form, we'll send you a confirmation email within 24 hours to let you know that your ePDQ account is live.

Only after receiving this confirmation, are you ready to start accepting payments. These transactions should all be processed in Production or (P) mode.
