We're pleased to work with Citizens Advice, who have many years of experience in the issues that most concern lone parents.

Citizens Advice is a network of independent charities operating from 3,200 service outlets throughout England and Wales. Its team of highly trained volunteers and paid staff offer free, impartial and confidential advice on employment, housing, legal issues and a lot more.

As the largest provider of free, independent money advice in the UK, Citizens Advice is a great asset to Horizons.

The service also campaigns nationally for a fairer, more equal society.

Campaigning in the community

It's a sad fact of modern life that more and more people are finding it harder to manage financially. Since 1997, the number of enquiries to Citizens Advice for consumer debt related problems has risen by almost 75%. Last year alone, the service dealt with over 1 million new debt problems.

Citizens Advice believes that people can make more positive financial choices when they're better informed. So bureaux are working with partner organisations to deliver straightforward advice to people in the local community, on a one to one and group basis covering issues such as debt, managing a budget, choosing credit and benefit entitlements.
