One of the most challenging aspects of being a lone parent is having to deal with difficult issues on your own.

At One Parent Families|Gingerbread, lone parents can get friendly, practical and free advice and support via the Lone Parent Helpline and Advice Service, information booklets and online interactive Helpdesk.

Helping single parents back to work

Most single parents are keen to get back to work, but the barriers are immense. While 56 percent succeed in getting a job, many of these are in low paid, unskilled employment. Others find they can't make the transition from benefits to work because their skills are out of date or they have no one to look after their children. Many have simply lost their confidence.

One Parent Families|Gingerbread has developed pioneering "employability programmes" to give single parents the skills and confidence they need to get back into the workforce.
