Rewards Scheme Terms and Conditions

  1. Introduction – When you become a Barclaycard Goldfish cardholder, you will be automatically enrolled in the Barclaycard Goldfish Rewards Programme (the "Programme"). You will be able to earn and redeem points, subject to the rules of the programme (the "Rules").
  2. Definitions – In these rules:
    "Account" means the Barclaycard Goldfish account in your name.
    "Agreement" means the Barclaycard Conditions relating to the operation of your Card.
    "Card" means your Barclaycard Goldfish Card.
    "Monthly Statement" means the monthly statement which we will send you in relation to the Account.
    "Points" means the points earned and redeemed under the Programme.
    "Rewards Department" means the Rewards Department we maintain to answer queries about Points and the Programme generally.
    "Programme Partners" mean the companies who provide opportunities to redeem Points or earn Additional Points under the Programme.
    "Statement Year" means a period of 12 monthly statement periods (approximately one calendar year) which follows the later of a) the date
    you open your account, and b) 27 October 2008, or the anniversary of such date.
    "We", "we" or "us" means Barclays Bank PLC, trading as Barclaycard.
    "You" or "you" means you, the individual in whose name the Account is maintained.
  3. Participation – To participate in the Programme you must comply with the terms of the Agreement and with these Rules. We may disqualify you from participating in the Programme and cancel any Points you have already accumulated if you fail to comply with any of the Rules.
  4. Eligible Purchases – You will earn Points on Eligible Purchases. "Eligible Purchases" mean any card purchase you or an additional cardholder make under the Agreement, excluding purchases that are subsequently returned or refunded, balance transfers, cheque purchases, insurance premiums, interest, Default Charges, other fees and charges, foreign currency, travellers cheques, gaming of any manner (including payment for a chance to win a prize) and any item charged to your Cash Balance.
  5. Earning Points
    (a) The "Normal Rate". Points will be earned at the Normal Rate of 1 Point for every £1 spent on Eligible Purchases. If the total Eligible Purchases appearing on your Monthly Statement is not exactly divisible by £1, the remaining amount will accrue for your benefit until additional Eligible Purchases are made which will equal £1.
    (b) From time to time you may be offered bonus points ("Additional Points"). Additional Points may be available on selected purchases from Programme Partners at rates determined by Programme Partners, as we shall notify to you. We may also offer Additional Points on special promotions or otherwise at our discretion.
  6. Life of your Points – Each Point earned will have a life of three years. In the fourth year, Points earned during the first year and not redeemed will be deleted on a month-by-month basis. New Points earned in the fourth year will be added in their place and so on, so three years' worth of Points will be maintained.
  7. Information about Points
    (a) Your current Points balance will be shown on your Monthly Statement. You may not receive a Monthly Statement if there have been no transactions or there is no balance on your Account. If you want to obtain information about your Points or the Programme you may contact the Rewards Department using the contact details we give you.
    (b) All Points discrepancies must be notified to the Rewards Department within three months from the date of the Eligible Purchase for which adjustment is sought.
    (c) You are responsible for determining any income tax or other tax liability relating to your participation in the Programme.
  8. Redeeming your Points
    (a) To redeem your Points you must contact the Rewards Department. The Rewards Department will confirm your current Points balance.
    (b) You can redeem your Points against products or services offered by Programme Partners. Points cannot be redeemed for cash.
    (c) We will tell you the value of Points when redeemed against products or services, and the particular products and services against which Points may be redeemed together with any conditions on redemption. On redemption the Points to be redeemed will be automatically deducted from your Account.
    (d) If, as a result of subsequent returns or cancellations of Eligible Purchases on your Account or for other reasons, you redeem more Points than you are entitled to, the value of such Points will be due to us.
    (e) Once you have redeemed your Points, Points are not exchangeable or refundable.
  9. Losing Your Entitlement to Points
    In certain circumstances you may lose your entitlement to earn or redeem Points.
    (a) If you breach the terms of the Agreement we may (i) suspend your right to earn and/or redeem any Points and (ii) cancel any Points you may have earned during the statement month of the breach. A breach of your Agreement includes a failure to make your monthly minimum payment by the payment due date, exceeding your credit limit or having a cheque, direct debit or other item returned unpaid.
    (b) We may cancel any Points you have earned on your Account, and/or suspend your right to earn or redeem further Points if:
    • you have asked us for, and we allow you, extra time to pay overdue payments on the Account;
    • we suspect fraud;
    • mail we send you is being returned to us; or
    • on two or more occasions during any 12 month period you breach the terms of the Agreement.
    (c) If your Account is closed, either by you or by us for any reason, you will not be able to redeem any Points you may have accumulated.
    (d) Points cannot be transferred and will be cancelled in the event of your death.
  10. Non-Redemption Period
    If we cancel any Points you have earned in accordance with these Rules:
    (a) You will not be eligible to redeem any Points for a period of 12 months ("Non-Redemption Period") following the date on which we cancel the award ("Cancellation Date");
    (b) So long as, during the Non-Redemption Period: (i) you make all of your monthly minimum payments by the payment due date; (ii) you do not exceed your credit limit at any time; and (iii) no cheque, direct debit or other item is returned unpaid, then on expiry of the Non-Redemption Period, you will be able to redeem any Points you may have earned since the Cancellation Date.
  11. Termination – We reserve the right to terminate the Programme, or any part of it, at any time by giving 30 days' advance notice to you in writing. In these Rules, by writing we include any written communication in electronic form. Such notice will specify the date from which you will no longer be able to earn Points and the period for which Points will remain valid.
  12. Changes
    (a) We may, from time to time, change these Rules by giving 30 days' advance notice to you in writing. Changes will be effective from the date specified in the notice. If the change is to your advantage instead of giving you advance notice we may tell you after we have made the change.
    (b) We may change details of the Programme which are not specified by these Rules, such as the Programme Partners, the products or services available when you redeem your Points or the Points value of such products or services, at any time without notice.
  13. Programme Partners – These Rules do not create any agency, partnership or joint venture relationship between us and the Programme Partners. We are not responsible, and assume no liability, for changes in, or discontinuance of Points or other benefits provided by Programme Partners.
