Understanding your credit rating
   
You could have a Good credit rating if: You could have an Average credit rating if: Your credit rating could Need Improving if:
  • You have no history of bankruptcy
  • You have not had any County Court Judgments (CCJs) or Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs) registered against you in the past 5 years
  • You have a history of managing credit commitments well i.e. have existing credit and at least 4 years of experience managing credit cards, loans, overdraft or mortgage
  • You have always made payments on time
  • You have an annual salary above £20,000
  • Excluding a mortgage, your debt on credit cards or store cards is less than 10% of your income
  • You have no history of bankruptcy
  • You have not had any County Court Judgments (CCJs) or Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs) registered against you in the past 5 years
  • You have a limited history of managing credit commitments well i.e. have existing credit cards, loans, overdraft or mortgage, but have no more than 2 credit commitments
  • Your record of paying credit commitments on time is less than 4 years old
  • You have not missed ANY payments on a credit card or loan in the last 12 months
  • You have an annual salary above £15,000
  • Excluding a mortgage, your debt on credit cards or store cards is less than 40% of your income.
  • You have no history of bankruptcy
  • You have not had any County Court Judgments (CCJs) or Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs) registered against you in the past 5 years
  • You have not missed multiple payments on a credit agreement within the last 12 months
  • You have been unsuccessful in attempts to obtain a credit card in the past (12 months) OR
  • You have no credit history, for example;
    • You have never used credit in the past
    • You are new to the country.
  • You have an annual salary above £10,000.
