Credit card fraud monitoring

As long as you tell us the moment you spot something you think is fraudulent on your account, and you've done everything you can to prevent fraud (like not telling anyone your PIN), you won't be liable for fraudulent use of your card.

Fraud spot checks

If it looks like someone else is using your card details, we’ll contact you as soon as possible to check if it’s genuine. You’ll be asked if the transactions are something you recognise.

Tell us if you are going abroad

This will help to protect you. For instance, if we think you’re at home and your card is suddenly being used in another country, we could think it’s fraudulent and stop the transaction. We wouldn’t want to do that if it’s genuine, so call us on 0844 811 9091 (call charges information) to let us know before you travel. What you can do to prevent fraud

• Don’t leave your card unattended
• Don’t leave your card where it can be seen
• Don’t write down your PIN
• Never tell anyone your PIN
• If you think your card has been lost or stolen, call us immediately
• Put our emergency lost and stolen number in your mobile’s address book –

• Check every statement when it arrives and call us if you spot something you don’t recognise
• Don’t let your card out of your sight – for example, if you’re in a restaurant, ask the staff to bring the terminal to you or go with them to the till.
