How do I import my downloaded files from account services?

To import into Microsoft Excel: Open Excel.

  1. File/Open/...select your file.
  2. An Import Wizard should now pop up. Step one, select 'delimited' text file, starting at the first row and file origin is Windows (ANSI).
  3. Second step in the wizard is to tell Excel what separates the columns. Tick the Comma box.
  4. Final step in the wizard is to tell Excel what is in each column (column 1 is a date, column 2, 3 and 4 are text and column 5 is a general number). Select each column in turn and set its type, then click finish.
  5. The file is now imported. You may need to alter the widths of the columns to see all of the data.

To import into specialist accounting software, please refer to your user manual for more information about this.

How secure are online account services?

Barclaycard online account services are very secure.

When you connect to your account online, your session is encrypted. Data you submit is encoded by your browser using a unique secret key (a session key), which your browser and the secure server negotiate at the beginning of your session. When your encrypted data is sent over the Internet, any third party monitoring traffic will effectively be unable to read it but the Barclaycard secure server will be able to decrypt it and handle your request normally. Such encryption also occurs when we displays screens back to you. Barclaycard. We use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol for managing your encrypted session and 128 bit encryption which is why the latest versions of Web browsers are needed to register and use this service.

For more information on SSL and encryption, many resources are available on the Internet, or via your browsers help section.

How will Verified by Visa affect me when I use my debit card to pay my Barclaycard Bill online?

Paying your Barclaycard bill online is no different to making any other purchase online using your debit card, so Barclaycard have joined over 54,000 participating retailers offering this service which is designed to protect you from unauthorised transactions.

When registering

Your bank may ask you to register for the service during the payment process. The information requested comes directly from your bank, so depending on who you bank with you may be given different options.

1. Option to continue without registering

If you see this option and choose not to register at this time, your payment will be processed as usual.

2. There is no option to continue without registering

If the option to continue without registering does not appear, you will need to complete the information requested by your bank. If you choose not to your bank may decline your payment request. This is solely the decision of the bank that issued your debit card.

After registration

Following your registration, each time you use your card online to pay at a participating retailer, your bank will request the password that you've specified, and will also display the personal greeting message that you specified. This is an extra check - just so that you know the request for your password is really from your bank.

The information requested comes directly from your bank, so depending on who you bank with you may be given different options.

1. Enter your password

If you know your password and you've checked your personal greeting, enter your password in the box provided to complete your Barclaycard payment.

2. If you do not know your password

Your bank may provide you with a ‘forgotten details' option. If you choose this your bank will ask you to enter some information about yourself and your account to reset your password online.

If you enter an incorrect password your bank may decline your payment request. This is solely the decision of the bank that issued your debit card.

Please read all the instructions provided by your bank to complete your Barclaycard payment. For your security the information being requested on these screens is not visible
