I've tried to register and failed for account services. Now it asks me not to try again. Why?

For security reasons we do not allow unlimited registration attempts. Once your registration has failed you will be given a reference number and a customer services number (0161 953 5501) to call for assistance. The registration process must now be completed over the phone to ensure the main cardholder is attempting to register their account.

Occasionally I am logged off from account services. Why?

There is a time limit set within the system for idle connections. If the service has not detected any action from your end within a certain time limit it will close your session, in case you have forgotten to log off.

Should I save my account services ID number on my computer?

If you have difficulty remembering your ID number you can save it to your computer so each time you log in to your account your ID will already be there for you. It is safe to do this even if you share a computer as no-one can log-in to your account without your passcode and memorable word.

What is 'Verified by Visa'?

This service, offered by Visa and in conjunction with debit and credit card issuers, enables you to validate your online payments by supplying a password known only to you and your debit card issuer.

  • When you use a debit card to make a payment to your Barclaycard account online you may be asked to supply your password or register for the scheme.
  • Also, when you use your Barclaycard at participating retailers, you may also be asked to supply this password or register for the scheme.

How it works

Your bank or credit card issuer may ask you to register for the service during the payment process, or ask you to register using their website independently.

To register you will need to enter some information about yourself and your account, and set up your personal greeting message and your password.

Following your registration, each time you use your card online to pay, your card issuer will request the password that you've specified, and will also display the personal greeting message that you specified. This is an extra check - just so that you know the request for your password is really from your bank.
