Fight Spam Emails

We take stringent measures to ensure your online banking is safe. However, there's a type of internet fraud that's sometimes more difficult to spot- the scam email. They look like an email from a reputable company, but they're actually impostors.

Often they will ask you to click a link to a spoof website, where you be prompted to provide, update or confirm sensitive personal information such as your security/log in details.

Sometimes even just clicking the link can download viruses or dangerous software to your computer. The email will often use alarming language to try to intimidate you into providing the information (for example,"Your account will be closed"/"Final reminder, act today"). 

Sounds scary, doesn't it? But you can dramatically lessen the risk with a little know-how.  Join us for a game of spot the scam. 

Basic rules for Spot the Scam

Check if the email is asking you for sensitive information

• We never email you to confirm your online security and membership details.  So if you get an email like this claiming to be from Barclaycard, you know it's a fake
• If you think you've received one of these, forward it to abuse.mailbox@barclaycard.co.uk
• Then delete it immediately from your email account.

Check our security certificate

• The Barclaycard website has a security certificate to prove its authenticity.  You can check it by double-clicking on the padlock symbol on your browser.
