So what exactly is a money transfer?

A money transfer lets you move credit from your Barclaycard directly into your UK current account to use as you wish - a speedy solution when you need cash in the bank for things like home improvements.

Is a money transfer right for me?

A money transfer lets you access your credit as cash, as quickly as the next working day – handy if you need to pay the plumber in a hurry or cover an unexpected bill.

Just remember that any money that your transfer into your current account will no longer benefit from purchase protection.

There's a fee for each transfer, but it's a quick and convenient way to access your credit as cash for when only cash will do, plus 0% interest during your promotional period. We'll let you know what your fee will be when you apply to make a transfer.

The table below gives you some examples of how much the fee will be across a number of different scenarios.

Amount you're transferring

The minimum you can transfer is £100. The maximum depends on your credit limit and your existing balances.

How is it done?

Quick and easy, that's how. Just follow these simple steps:

  1. 1. Log into your Barclaycard online servicing account or use the Barclaycard app to see if you have an offer available.

  2. 2. Get the details of the UK current account you're transferring into, then transfer up to the maximum amount shown.

  3. 3. Make sure you've read and understood the terms and conditions, and tick the box to continue.

That's it. The money will usually be transferred by the end of the next working day, unless further checks are required. Your cash will then be available – straight from your bank account. Read our money transfer terms and conditions for more information on how long your transfer will take.

Help take the unknown out of paying someone you don’t know

If you’re looking to use your money transfer to pay someone you don’t know (like a tradesperson, or someone selling a car) we suggest getting added peace of mind by using Shieldpay.

Shieldpay help verify the identity of the person or business you’re buying from. They keep your money safe in an escrow account (known as the Shieldpay vault) until you confirm you’re happy with the goods you’ve received or the service you requested.

If you’re happy for the payment to be made, they’ll release the money to the seller for you. If anything doesn’t go to plan, your money is held securely in the vault and Shieldpay will help resolve any disputes before your money is released. T&Cs apply.
