CPP Information – Card Protection Insurance and Identity Protection Alert

In November 2012 the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) announced that CPP Ltd must compensate customers, following sales practice that fell short of industry standards regarding card protection and identity theft products.

A scheme of arrangements has been agreed with the FCA in order to provide full redress to eligible customers, simply, quickly and without the need to use a Claims Management Company. The Scheme will write to all customers who may be entitled to redress from 27th August 2013.

Customers do not need to do anything at this stage.

To find out more information about the redress Scheme visit or call CPP on www.cppredressscheme.co.uk  . Their opening hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm, and Saturdays 8am to 6pm. Alternatively, you can write to the Scheme at:

You can find exactly what you're covered for in your policy summary document.

What should I look out for on my credit report?

  • Keep a close eye on the areas of your credit report CPP have listed below to make sure you haven't been a victim of fraud:
  • Check company names – Check all the company names shown in your credit report against your credit card(s) or loan agreements to ensure they match up.
  • Check your payments – Experian uses a 'traffic light' colour coding system. If your status is green, you should be up-to-date. Amber means you're up to three months in arrears. The figure in the 'traffic light' shows the exact number of months your payment is overdue. Red indicates payments that are at least four months late.
  • Check your credit limits – Is this an amount you recognise as a loan or credit card you have? Check your most recent statements if the figure is higher than you were expecting.
