With the new way banks are helping protect you from fraud, you’ll sometimes need to confirm it’s you when you pay for things online.
Here’s how you can do it with a text message.
As long as we have your latest UK mobile number and you’ve got a strong mobile signal you could use a text message to confirm your online activity with a one-time verification code.
1) Start by adding your Barclaycard details as your payment method (you may already have this set up).
2) You’ll see a new window appear on your screen. Choose to receive a code by text message. You’ll get a notification that your one-time verification code will be sent to your phone – press ‘Next’.
3) You’ll receive your code – enter this into the verification screen then follow the on-screen prompts to finish paying. Bear in mind that it may take a few minutes for your text to land.
With the Barclaycard app no codes are needed – you can confirm it’s you with a few taps. It’s easy and completely secure. And, if you haven’t got it already it’s free to download.

If a text message is the best way for you to confirm it’s really you making an online purchase, you’ll need to make sure we have your latest UK mobile number.
Check that we have the right one using online servicing, the Barclaycard app or by calling us on 0333 200 9090.
If someone else has an additional card on your account, they’ll need to confirm their online purchases using a text message or PINsentry card reader. Make sure we have their correct UK mobile number by using Barclaycard online servicing or by calling 0333 200 9090.
This device generates a code to enter into the payment screen to help confirm it’s you. To use this, you’ll need to have your Barclaycard and card PIN to hand.
