What do I need to do?

If you have a Barclaycard terminal, then you don’t need to do a thing. We’ll take care of everything for you and update your Barclaycard terminal(s) automatically. There aren’t any terminal upgrades that need you to do, just make sure it’s switched on for its monthly update.

My terminal isn't from Barclaycard

If your terminal isn't rented from Barclaycard, please contact your PSP/terminal provider to discuss Discover acceptance through Barclaycard.  This may require your PSP/terminal provider to re-accredit to Barclaycard for Discover.

What do I need to do if I already accept Discover cards through Elavon?

You do not need to do anything right now. We will write to you in early 2019 for your terminals connected to Elavon.

When can I get started?

Please refer to the letter you received which details when you can start taking the Discover Global Network family of cards using Chip & Pin and contactless.

Will Discover be available in UK only?

Are all transactions types including MO/TO, ecomm supported for Discover?

All Transactions types supported for Discover similar to VISA and MasterCard.

Is Discover available to all Merchant category codes?

What do I need to do if I take payments via ePDQ solution?

If the Discover logo does not appear, or you are unsure, or you do need to perform an integration update to allow Discover to be a selectable payment method, please consult your IT Team/web developer.

What do I need to do to integrate our ePDQ solution?

You need to follow the same integration steps as for VISA/MasterCard. Your IT Team should be aware of the integration process followed for other schemes. If you want to revisit integration instructions, please refer to support.epdq.co.uk/en

What do I need to do if I take payments via Smartpay ?

We are working to make Discover available on your Smartpay (Smartpay A) solution and will communicate further with next steps.

How much will it cost?

You’ll be able to start accepting all cards on the Discover Global Network at your current Visa and Mastercard rates. Any premiums or transaction fees that you currently pay will be incurred on DGN transactions too. Please refer to the correspondence you received from us which outlines the rates that you will align to.

What is the new International Transaction fee?

The new International Transaction Fee is an additional charge of 2.2%, which will be added to your MSC rate for any transactions where the card is issued outside of the European Economic Area. This fee applies to all schemes.

Why have you introduced a new International Transaction fee?

International transactions cost us more to process than domestic transactions and, because the volume of International transactions that we’re seeing is increasing, we’ve decided to apply an additional cost for this type of transaction to cover our increased cost.

Will I receive a separate statement and settlement for Discover?

Barclaycard will process Discover cards under the same merchant id as your Visa and Mastercard transactions and this will be included in your current statement and settlement.

How much Interchange++ customer charged for processing Discover transaction?

You’ll be able to start accepting all cards on the Discover Global Network at the interchange rate and scheme fee below which will be notified in your schedule of charges or on your statement. The processing fee will be the same as you currently pay for Visa transactions.

Please note that Discover Global Network has recently updated Intra Europe commercial interchange rates for Intra EEA (European Economic Area) and Intra Non EEA. We’ve put these new interchange fees in the table overleaf as following so you can see how they could affect your transactions.
