Reasons why transactions are declined | Barclaycard Payments

There a number of reasons why a transaction may be refused for payment. The most common reasons are:

Do not honour

Insufficient funds

CVV2 value missing/incorrect

Cannot process - card faulty

Lost/stolen card

Expired card

Invalid card number

If the transaction is refused, the card issuing company will not give a reason and you should return the card to the customer - unless instructed otherwise by the operator - and ask for payment by other means.

If you suspect a technical issue with your PDQ call us on 0844 811 6666* and one of our advisors can check if the decline is a valid response from the Card Issuing Bank or a system malfunction.
