How are subscriptions (merchant-initiated transactions) affected by PSD2?

When a cardholder signs up for a subscription with their Barclaycard, the initial transaction will require authenticating using SCA. Further transactions initiated by the merchant will not need this authentication. If your card number or expiry date changes, the subscription will need to be updated with the new card details.
