Why do I need a PINsentry card reader?

New European Union (EU) legislation called the Payment Services Directive version 2 (or PSD2 for short) aims to make online purchasing and banking much more secure. The legislation includes Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), which requires customers to authenticate their online transactions. A PINsentry card reader is a key part of this authentication process.
