When a Visa or Mastercard personal debit card is used in person to buy a £50 item, you could pay:

Example transaction charge (0.7%) – £0.35 + Authorisation fee (3p) – £0.03

= Total transaction fees – £0.38

By phone

When a Visa or Mastercard personal credit card is used by phone to buy a £50 item, you could pay:

Example transaction charge (2.05%) – £1.03 + Authorisation fee (3p) – £0.03

= Total transaction fees – £1.06
