Barclaycard late fees
Simple ways to avoid a late payment fee
Your payment can take a few days to reach us, so you need to make it in plenty of time.
- Cheques can take between four and seven working days to clear
- Payments made using Barclaycard online servicing can take up to three days to clear
- Make at least the minimum payment by your payment due date
Set up a direct debit and your payments will be made automatically – either the minimum payment, a set amount decided by you, or the full balance. To set up a direct debit download the Barclaycard app to your mobile or log into or register for Barclaycard online servicing. You need to be 16 or over to use the app. T&Cs apply.
We’ve created some useful step-by-step guides to help you get started – from registering and logging in, to paying your bill.
Make sure you have enough money in your account to cover payments to ensure your payment doesn’t bounce.
Payment due date
If your payment is currently due at a time of the month when you’re low on funds, you can change the payment due date on your account to one that suits you better. You can ask for a change to your payment date by using the 'chat' feature in the Barclaycard app. Open or download the app and start a 'Chat' which you'll find under 'Contact us' on the help page. Alternatively you can call us and ask us to make the change for you.
Set up spend alerts
Set up free SMS or email payment due alerts and we’ll send you a reminder so you get plenty of time to make the payment. Simply log in to your Barclaycard online servicing account and click on 'your details'. If you're not registered, you can register for an account – it only takes a few minutes and you’ll find lots of great ways to help you manage your account online.
